Director of Strategy, Effectiveness & Learning
In his role at the foundation, Kenji oversees strategy formulation and execution, organizational development and effectiveness, and learning and assessment activities. Drawing upon his prior 15 years in philanthropic organizations, Kenji is also responsible for guiding the foundation’s approach to grants management, as well as external communications to positively impact the field through knowledge sharing and leadership on critical issues. His experience as a funder has spanned early education, K12, and postsecondary education at the local, regional and state level – and has included efforts focused on policy, practice, and public engagement.
Active in nonprofit leadership, he currently serves as a board member of Community Initiatives and of the Sobrato Early Academic Language (SEAL) Program, having previously co-founded and chaired the board of Next Generation Scholars.
Kenji holds a B.A. in American Studies from UC Santa Cruz, and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of San Francisco.
