Alliance AMP College Prep Summit

Alliance AMP College Prep Summit
January 11, 2017 Stuart Foundation

The Stuart Foundation’s generous support of the inaugural Alliance Mentorship Program (AMP) College Prep Summit on May 27, 2016, resulted in a powerful and impactful day of celebration, learning, and relationshipbuilding for our students’ college success. Over 1,000 students and alumni attending 12 different colleges and universities came together at 1 the Cal State LA campus to celebrate their college journey, build the mentor/mentee relationship, and participate in important high school to college matriculation workshops. AMP is an effective peer mentor program that increases college matriculation and persistence for our low-income, first-generation students. Over the summer and through college freshman year, mentors (successful Alliance alumni in college) provide structured support to mentees (Alliance college freshmen) at the same college to overcome barriers to college completion such as financial aid, campus involvement, time management, and college resources.
